SUBS
Subscription Cart Probe
The scan adds a subscription item to a throwaway cart through Shopify's own cart API and checks whether the selling plan actually survives.
When Shopify reliability starts to slip
I help established brands make fragile Shopify storefronts safer to work on again with senior cleanup, reliability, and technical debt support.
Storefront Detox helps teams find the hidden mess in overloaded app stacks, old theme edits, duplicated scripts, subscription widgets, cart logic, accessibility barriers, and consent or tracking behavior before another update turns into a revenue problem.
Your store needs a detox
RUN A DETOX SCAN
Interactive demo
Sometimes the store looks fine until a buyer clicks the revenue button.
You need a detox
If this feels familiar, your Shopify cart flow is worth reviewing.
A lot of Shopify stores are held together by old theme edits, half-removed apps, duplicate scripts, custom cart logic, subscription widgets, tracking pixels, and small fixes from too many hands over too many years.
That does not always show up as an obvious broken page. Sometimes it shows up as slower product pages, fragile add-to-cart behavior, mystery console errors, duplicated tracking, cart drawer weirdness, or a team that is scared to make simple updates.
SHOPIFY DETOX SCAN
Shopify Detox Scan is a lightweight external storefront scan + senior Shopify review that combines automated inspection with senior Shopify judgment.
It looks at the public storefront from the outside: app/script complexity, product and cart flow, real-user performance, WCAG 2.2 A/AA signals, consent behavior, privacy hygiene, tracking, and technical debt clues.
No Shopify admin access required. It does not modify your store and it is not a full private codebase review. If the scan shows deeper risk, the next step is a Shopify Rehab.
Shopify Detox Scan — $495 Free for founding stores. Waived for the first 10 founding stores in exchange for anonymized field note permission and honest feedback. 10 of 10 slots available.
View the dedicated Detox Scan page for scan scope, app stack examples, FAQs, and request details.
RISK SIGNALS
The scan collects evidence from the public storefront: cart behavior, app leftovers, duplicate tracking, real-user field data, accessibility signals, consent and privacy behavior, and theme foundations. Not to shame your stack, but to show where future changes may get risky.
SUBS
The scan adds a subscription item to a throwaway cart through Shopify's own cart API and checks whether the selling plan actually survives.
CART
Shopify product JSON is compared against the rendered page so price, availability, variants, and add-to-cart state are not trusted blindly.
APP
Half-uninstalled apps, failing app requests, orphaned resource hints, duplicate embeds, and same-category app overlap are called out as cleanup clues.
PIXELS
Network evidence shows when GA4 or Meta PageView fires more than once on a page load. Measured, not guessed.
A11Y
Desktop and mobile checks test WCAG 2.2 A/AA signals, keyboard focus, labels, contrast, reflow, touch targets, and open storefront states.
PRIVACY
Region-verified consent runs compare reject, accept, reload, preferences, and GPC behavior while sensitive URL values are redacted at collection.
FIELD
CrUX field data shows what real Chrome shoppers experienced over the last 28 days. It is not a synthetic audit.
DEBT
Theme identity, custom-fork signals, deprecated tooling smells, jQuery-era foundations, and redundant carousel libraries get surfaced for review.
Paste your store URL and I'll take a quick look — then tell you honestly whether a Detox Scan is worth it. No report, no charge, one straight answer.
PROCESS
Send the store URL and any product, collection, or cart issues you already know about. I'll take it from there as no admin access is required to get started.
The storefront is scanned from the outside and reviewed for app/script complexity, PDP/cart risk, accessibility, consent/privacy behavior, tracking, and technical debt signals.
You receive a branded PDF and private HTML report with plain-English findings, severity labels, screenshots where helpful, and a recommended next step.
If the store looks clean, great. If the scan surfaces deeper risk, the next step may be a Shopify Rehab, Cleanup Sprint, or monthly reliability plan.
PRIVATE WORK
Most of this work happens behind the scenes: cleaning up fragile theme code, stabilizing app integrations, fixing cart and subscription issues, and helping brands recover from messy handoffs.
Because this work often involves private codebases, internal processes, and past agency decisions, I do not publicly list client names without permission.
The goal is simple: make the store safer, cleaner, and easier to work on without turning someone else's technical mess into public marketing material.
DIRECT SENIOR WORK
When you work with Storefront Detox, you work directly with me — Jonathan Siderman, a senior Shopify developer with 18+ years of hands-on development experience.
I do not outsource Shopify cleanup, cart fixes, subscription debugging, code reviews, or theme stabilization work. I keep the client list small so I can stay close to the code and understand the store.
Most of my work lives in the messy middle of real Shopify stores: themes touched by many hands, app-heavy storefronts, subscription flows, cart drawers, tracking setups, and agency handoffs that nobody fully documented. Los Angeles born and raised, and still here.
I hold Shopify's Liquid Storefronts for Theme Developers credential, which aligns with the theme-based Shopify work this service focuses on.
Between client work I build small tools I actually use — including justadoc, a fast, keyboard-first Markdown editor for notes and code snippets. It's a personal project, not a product, but it's cut from the same cloth as this: opinionated, minimal, and built to stay out of the way.
